Do you know a school in the Co Clare, Co. limerick, Co. Tipperary region that would like a visit from our Education Coordinator? Áine can be booked under ‘The Heritage In Schools’ scheme and the visits are part funded by the Heritage Council.

Áine is one of the authors of our popular book ‘The Year Round Organic School Garden’ a gardening resource for schools. She is passionate about biodiversity and encouraging children to engage with nature. For the past five years she has been delivering biodiversity workshops to schools in Co. Clare, Co. Limerick and Co. Galway. These workshops support the schools in achieving their biodiversity green flag.

A one day visit to a school acts as an introduction to biodiversity using fun activities to engage the children in the outdoor environment.

A series of five visits can be booked and used to help create and support a long term biodiversity plan for the school grounds. Áine helps the children develop the school grounds into a beautiful, stimulating, biodiverse garden. This includes an audit of the school grounds, and developing a garden plan with the children. The garden plan includes a biodiversity wish list of projects that can be implemented over a period of time. Projects can include heritage vegetables, herb, flower and soft fruit beds, native hedgerows, small woodland, a heritage orchard, pond, willow fences, willow domes, bug hotels, scarecrows, plant nursery, polytunnel and composting area.
