It’s that time of year again where we are all beginning to plan our gardens for the year ahead. Where to place the flowers, how many raised beds will i have? What did i plant there last year? What will i plant in there this year? So many questions, but the work, care, harvesting and eating that lays ahead all begins with a seed.

Every year at Seed Savers we always acknowledge the coming season by hosting our Seed Share day. This is a big event for us and everyone is invited, if you have any spare seeds bring them along too for everyone to share. It doesn’t matter what types of seeds they are, you may arrive with some spare lettuce seed but end up going home with some rare Emerald Apple Tomato seeds from Russia.

Don’t be surprised if you end up going home with more seeds than when you arrived. Bring your friends and family and enjoy a walk through our twenty acres of Organic Seed Gardens, Heritage Orchards and Native Woodland trails. On the day we will have a selected menu in our cafe and our Cob Pizza Oven will be fired up

Guest Speaker Confirmed

This year our guest speaker is Wayne Frankham. Wayne is now Ireland’s Regional coordinator for The Gaia Foundation and, in conjunction with Irish Seed Savers, will be working on THE SEED SOVEREIGNTY UK & IRELAND PROGRAMME. Wayne will be talking about the programme and how communities can get involved. Wayne says: “While seed challenges are as varied as the seasons, community built resilience enables valuable connections for cultural and agricultural diversity; the environment, and each other”.
