Leaving Cert Biology Field Trips

The study of hedgerow and grassland habitats.

Our workshop takes you step by step through the study of an ecosystem and its habitats. Our course fulfils the Ecology Leaving Cert curriculum requirements. Students will have the opportunity to practice a variety of field techniques and key concepts of ecology are studied in depth.

Field trips are partly classroom based with all practical work taking place in our gardens and woodlands.

Transition year ecology workshops

We offer a general three hour workshop for all years or key subjects can be chosen in advance from the following list of themes.

  • Composting and soil
  • Native trees identification and seed sowing
  • Vegetable and flower seed sowing
  • The cycle of a seed
  • Organic gardening
  • Seed Saving
  • Propagation of plants
  • Food miles and local food
  • Biodiversity and native habitats

Activities are held mainly outdoors with indoor options in wet weather. Packed lunches wellingtons boots and rain jackets are essential.
