Description

Beginners Beekeeping – Saturday Sept 25th – 10am – 4:30pm

New beekeepers are essential in order to keep our bee population healthy. Topics covered will include how to get started, sourcing bees, the equipment needed and an overview of the beekeeping year. You will also learn about our native black bees and their colony, and what goes on inside it. We will discuss the importance of flowers and plants for the bees and there will be an Apiary practical session with open bee hives. Please bring wellies or boots high enough to tuck the bottom of your trousers into. Wear light coloured trousers. Avoid any dark colours and tight fitting leggings. If you know that you have an allergy to bee stings, do reconsider if this is the right workshop for you.
