Mushroom Growing – Saturday June 18th – 10am – 4:30pm

Want to learn how to grow Oyster mushrooms? Low-tech methods of growing will be covered in this one day hands on course. Based on the tutor’s experience from his small Oyster Mushroom business, the facilitator will guide the participants through the process of starting a small scale mushroom production. At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home their own Oyster mushroom growing kit. Topics covered: mushroom life cycle – straw substrate – straw pellets – low tech infrastructure needed – inoculation period: conditions required, time, temperature, humidity – fruiting period – harvesting – using Oyster mushrooms in the kitchen with mouth watering recipes – potential market.

Our Big workshop weekend offers a range of full-day courses to choose from. You can take a single course or two courses over the weekend. Our courses always get positive feedback from participants and you will benefit from on hand expert tutors with years of experience in their field. The weekend format also offers you the opportunity to meet like-minded people and to spend some time in our gardens, orchards and woodlands in beautiful East Clare.

The Seed Savers Cafe will be open on each course day for lunch, serving soup, tea and coffee, and homemade cakes. The Cafe is vegetarian and uses organic ingredients from the gardens and orchards whenever possible.
