{"id":6893,"date":"2020-02-06T09:36:24","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T09:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seedsavers.willowdigital-1.com\/?p=6893"},"modified":"2020-08-17T09:37:08","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T09:37:08","slug":"irish-seed-savers-supports-environmental-pillar-manifesto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishseedsavers.ie\/shop\/2020\/02\/06\/irish-seed-savers-supports-environmental-pillar-manifesto\/","title":{"rendered":"Irish Seed Savers supports Environmental Pillar Manifesto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Irish Seed Savers are a proud member of the The Environmental Pillar, an organisation comprised of 26 national independent environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs), who work together to represent the views of the Irish environmental sector.<\/p>\n<p>In the lead up to the General Election 2020, The Environmental Pillar have released their manifesto that identifies 10 critical areas for reform.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased funding through the carbon tax to support a Green New Deal for Ireland<\/li>\n<li>Increased support for agencies and NGOs working to protect our natural world<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a unified biodiversity and climate Department under one cabinet Minister<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to support marine and freshwater biodiversity<\/li>\n<li>Transform to a low-carbon public, active and vehicle-sharing transport model<\/li>\n<li>Kick-start a circular economy revolution in line with the European Green Deal<\/li>\n<li>Reform farming and forestry for close to nature management systems, biodiversity restoration and permanent native woodland creation<\/li>\n<li>Get tough on construction industry impact on the natural world<\/li>\n<li>Ensure wide access to justice right on environmental matters<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that our borderless biodiversity on the island of Ireland is Brexit-proofed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full manifesto is available here:\u00a0<a href=\"\">httpss:\/\/tinyurl.com\/t5amxby<\/a><\/p>\n<p>By focusing on these areas, it will help lead to a strong Green New Deal for Ireland to ensure a just transition for our natural world and the Irish people into the new dawn of a zero-carbon world.<\/p>\n<p>The Pillar is also delighted to support the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onefuture.ie\/\">One Future campaign<\/a>\u00a0calling for faster and fairer climate action that launched earlier this week.
