Irish Seed Savers Association is delighted to announce that Ten Community Garden Groups have been awarded a place on the Community Seed Guardian Programme.<\/p>\n
Commencing on Friday 26th<\/sup> February, Irish Seed Savers will provide the ten selected community gardens training and mentoring in seed growing and seed saving with experienced facilitators, learning the steps to enhance seed supply for community gardeners around the island of Ireland, without having to rely on food seed imports to grow their own food. Due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions the programme will offer monthly webinars for the Community Garden Groups to learn and develop skills and knowledge in seed growing and seed saving.<\/p>\n Training community growing groups to grow and save their own food seed will increase access to seed availability and create greater community engagement with the full food supply from seed to plate.<\/p>\n The Ten Community Gardens Groups selected to participate in the Community Seed Guardian Programme are:<\/p>\n Mud Island Community Garden, Dublin City<\/p>\n Monart Farm, Wexford<\/p>\n Kildare Town Community Garden, Kildare<\/p>\n Millenium Community Garden, Tipperary<\/p>\n Gaird\u00edn Gortahork, Donegal<\/p>\n Rossinver Community Garden, Leitrim<\/p>\n Bantry Community Garden, Cork<\/p>\n Kildorrery Community Garden, Cork<\/p>\n Trellick Community Garden, Galway<\/p>\n Ballina Karen Community Garden, Mayo<\/p>\n This training and mentoring programme for communities across Ireland to grow and save their own food seed was developed with funding received through Rethink Ireland\u2019s Innovate Together programme, The Community Foundation for Ireland, The Heritage Council and the Irish Seed Savers Supporter base and donors. We would like to thank all involved.<\/p>\n We look forward to working with the community garden groups to develop seed communities throughout Ireland.
