In the 1830s after being violently displaced by European colonisers, the Cherokee Nation migrated along the &#8216;Trail of Tears&#8217;. They took essential and meaningful items with them, including the seeds of this variety. A tall and productive crop, producing abundant green pods that darken to purple as they age. Left to mature, the dried beans are small, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW210951216 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">shiny<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW210951216 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\"> and black.
