Elaine at Sustainable Living Stage Bloom

We are thrilled to announce that Irish Seed Savers will once again be part of the vibrant and inspiring Bord Bia Bloom festival in Phoenix Park from Thursday, May 30th to Monday, June 3rd! This year’s Bloom promises to be an exceptional event, filled with innovation, sustainability, and a celebration of horticulture, food, and drink.

Experience Bord Bia Bloom

Bord Bia Bloom has evolved into a world-class event that not only offers a great day out but also serves as an invaluable source of practical information. Originally focused on promoting plants, garden design, and horticulture, Bloom has expanded its horizons to include food, drink, cooking, and cultural experiences. It’s a festival where nature and sustainable living take centre stage, creating an uplifting environment for all who attend.

Visit the Conservation Area

A highlight of Bord Bia Bloom is the Conservation Area, a dedicated space where visitors can engage with leading conservationists and environmentalists. This area is designed to empower individuals with knowledge and inspiration to take action for a better world. We invite you to visit our marquee in the Conservation Area to learn more about Irish Seed Savers’ mission to conserve Ireland’s food crop heritage. You can also sign up to support our work and become part of our community dedicated to protecting Ireland’s genetic food resources for future generations.

Special Presentations on Traditional Orchards and Pollinators

We are excited to feature two special presentations by Elaine Bradley, Executive Director of Irish Seed Savers, and Ruth Wilson, Farmland Pollinator Officer for the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. They will present “The How-to-Guide: Traditional Orchards and Fruit Trees for Pollinators on the Farm” on the Sustainable Living Stage. Mark your calendars for these insightful sessions on Saturday, June 1st from 13:15 to 14:00 and Monday, June 3rd from 12:00 to 12:30.

The guide, developed in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s All Ireland Pollinator Plan, is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in creating and managing traditional orchards and fruit trees to support pollinators. It covers everything from selecting the right planting site and tree varieties to encouraging beneficial pollinators and natural predators that help manage pests and protect crops.

Join Us in Celebrating Sustainability

We look forward to seeing you at Bord Bia Bloom 2024. Come and be inspired by the wonders of horticulture, the joy of growing your own food, and the beauty of sustainable living.

Remember to stop by the Conservation Area to meet the Irish Seed Savers team, discover how you can help conserve Ireland’s rich food crop heritage, and engage the children in our “Plant an Irish Heritage Pea” activity!

See you at Bloom!
