Dear Supporter

Happy New Year to you from all of us here at Irish Seed Savers.

Thanks so much to those of you who have already sent in your seed orders, and especially to those of you who have taken the new step of ordering your seeds and gardening needs through our new website. We are delighted to see so many embracing this new method for supporter orders.

Due to Covid-19 increasing the interest in gardening, as well as Brexit restricting seed and plant imports, 2021 has started with a bang. There has been a massive upsurge in the number of people ordering seeds to get ready for the spring, which we have certainly felt that here at Irish Seed Savers. We are experiencing a significant increase in orders for this time of year. As Covid-19 has restricted the numbers of staff we can have onsite, we have limited numbers available to process all orders. Because of this, we are experiencing a growing backlog of orders, and a backlog of emails and phone messages to which we are yet to reply.

We are doing our best to stay on top of the high volume of orders and queries that have come in. However, to meet this demand we have decided to suspend online ordering of seeds and vouchers until Monday 25th January.

As a supporter you have the added benefit of submitting your seed order through the paper form sent with your newsletter to claim your free supporter seeds as well as additional seeds. This means you won’t have to wait until we return seeds to be ordered online. If you have not received our Winter Newsletter and 2021 Seed Catalogue please let us know and we will post to you as soon as we can.

You can still order online for items such as our 2021 Calendar, gardening tools, books, etc., so please feel free to continue ordering through the website for all your non-seed needs.

If you’ve already placed an order, we will be doing our very best to get it out to you in the coming weeks.

While we are delighted to have our new website up and running and giving the opportunity to supporters to order their seeds online, all new technologies inevitably bring challenges and areas for improvement. If any of you have experienced difficulty with ordering your free seeds online we apologise. We will be addressing these issues over the next week. We are sorry for any inconvenience these delays may cause.

With the evenings starting to get longer, we know that the growing season is on its way. We are doing everything we can to help make it a success for you so we appreciate your patience and ongoing support of our work.

Kind Regards.
