National Biodiversity Week is an annual celebration of Ireland’s biodiversity and the importance of protecting it. This year, Irish Seed Savers is joining the festivities by offering free guided garden and orchards tours on Saturday May 27th.

The heritage gardens and orchards at Irish Seed Savers are a showcase of the rich biodiversity of Ireland, and the guided tour will offer a unique opportunity to learn about the history, natural cultural heritage and ecology of the site.

The tours are suitable for all ages and are led by our knowledgeable and expert team who are passionate about the importance of biodiversity. Participants on the Guided Garden Tour will have the opportunity to learn about the different varieties of heirloom vegetable crops that are grown for seed at Irish Seed Savers, including the regenerative agriculture practices on site that support its thriving biodiversity. Orchard Tour participants will have the opportunity to learn about the different varieties of Irish heritage apple trees conserved at Irish Seed Savers, and how traditional orchards are havens for biodiversity supporting a range of wildlife.
