This legendary potato-leaved Beefsteak variety is of Amish heritage. It was introduced in 1889, named for the Brandywine River in Pennsylvania. The fruit is deep pink and can grow quite large. The flavour has been described as transcendental or ‘tomato heaven’. Sweet, rich, and juicy perfect for slicing. Its dense flesh is also wonderful for sauces.
