Description
A productive and useful cooking pear. Beautiful burgundy/brown colour looks well hanging in clusters from the tree. Decoratively russetted. Its origin is uncertain but it is considered to be one of the oldest pears in cultivation. It appears on the coat of arms of Worcester and was grown in the UK in the 1500s. A reliable and productive tree with a spreading habit. Grows healthily and generally disease and trouble free. Best results if planted in a sunny, well-drained site.
