Description
Verde a Foglia Riccia is an Italian heritage lettuce with large, loose, curled green leaves. It is a cut-and-come type, allowing leaves to be harvested as needed. The leaves are bright green, long and deeply frilled. They have a juicy, crunchy spine running through the centre. The leaves have a particularly crisp texture and satisfying crunch. Verde a Foglia Riccia is especially good for adding texture to salad mixes.
It grows well outdoors and indoors, giving gardeners flexibility when choosing where to grow it. The variety also grows well throughout the year. It is fairly hardy when grown as a winter crop. Irish Seed Savers received this variety from supporter Stephen Marsh.
