Description
Up to Date onion is an English heritage variety with a long history of cultivation. It has been enjoyed by gardeners and market growers for over 80 years. The variety was once commercially registered but has become harder to find.
Up to Date onion produces large, apple-shaped bulbs with distinctive square shoulders. The bulbs have rounded bases and attractive yellow skins. Inside, the bulbs have dense flesh with a firm texture.
The variety is known for its strong flavour and zingy, punchy aroma. Its robust flavour makes it well suited to everyday cooking. Up to Date is also valued for its excellent storage qualities. The bulbs store well, making them useful for maintaining an onion supply after harvest. Good resistance to white rot.
