This old variety has been prized since the 1800s. Grown more for its beautiful foliage than for its root, this beet has a spindle-shaped root, and a thick cluster of narrow, soft, deep purple-red leaves with a metallic shine which can be harvested throughout the growing season. Easy to grow, with its rich colour this crop makes a beautiful addition to salads or stews.
