This east-Irish heritage oat produces a plump, tawny-coloured grain and yields well on soils of average fertility. This is a tall crop, with a large production of straw, though the fine straw means it may lodge more easily than other varieties. Fairly hardy, it grew well in Scarriff over winter. Best grown in sandy soils.
