This heritage squash was developed by Anna Schwartz in 1950s Pennsylvania. The sprawling plants produce large fruits with bumpy, black-blue skin and sweet, creamy, deep orange flesh. the thick skin means this variety is good for winter storage. In 2025 here at ISSA we grew it both under cover and outside, with the outside plants performing even better than the indoor ones! Give plenty of room for this large variety to sprawl through your growing space.
