This scarlet-flowered variety was grown by miners in the Shropshire village of St. Martins for generations and passed down through families. Known locally as ‘Coal’ due to the dark black, shiny mature beans. Tolerant to adverse weather conditions, this bean grows well both outdoors and under cover. The vigorous plants produce large clusters of long, stringless pods, between 35 – 45cm long.
